HUESCA

The building's configuration responds to its position at the end of the urban axis that runs through the sports city from east to west and ends at the athletics tracks. An opening in the centre of the volume creates a covered space with views over the tracks, marking the end of the central street of the Sports City.

The low-rise volume and elongated, narrow floor plan—closer to the idea of a ‘pavilion’ than a building—and light, porous façades integrate the building into its natural surroundings.

A cantilevered roof protects both the stands on one side and the access to the multi-sport field on the other. This creates a shade structure under which the sports programmes are grouped, protecting them from solar radiation in the warm months and allowing it to pass through in the cold months.

The building's layout is efficiently distributed, optimising the required surface areas and taking advantage of the difference in elevation on the site. The stands are located at the level of the courts, protected from the rain by a cantilevered roof.
A systematic, economical and simple construction is proposed, using industrialised, recycled and recyclable elements. An industrialised recycled steel structure resolves the above-ground volume, creating a light and open building. The use of these prefabricated systems minimises construction waste and the environmental impact of the proposal, while at the same time considerably speeding up its execution.
